Hi, everybody! We’re Laney Kraus-Taddeo, a producer on the video team at the DNC, and Patricia Colon, a social media platforms strategist on the DNC’s digital content and creative team. We’re excited to share a little bit about the work we did to coordinate with top campaigns in 2022 to help elect Democrats nationwide.
This year, we reached out to and collaborated with campaigns across the country to generate unique content for DNC and campaign social media accounts.
Our content team at the DNC was able to act as a mini-production company, giving campaigns access to graphics, pictures, and videos produced by our creative team. We offered campaigns a range of engagement opportunities that would give our team a chance to produce dynamic content. This was an especially helpful resource for campaigns that had smaller digital teams but wanted to try new strategies on their social media accounts. Overall, we coordinated with dozens of campaigns, including Democratic Senate and governor campaigns.
We asked each campaign to send us videos and photos that our team could use to create unique content, like graphics and vertical videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels. From there, we collaborated with the campaigns to determine a publishing strategy that would maximize our success.
We published a vast range of content types, including: social graphics, hype videos, clip and captioning, candidate visualizers, Q&A videos, GIFs, and TikToks.
From September 12th through Election Day, we published 226 posts about campaigns and candidates across six DNC-managed social media platforms. The content we made in support of these campaigns generated 11.5 million views and earned 3.9 million impressions and 440,000 engagements.
Ahead of the Georgia Senate runoff election, we coordinated with Senator Warnock’s digital team to amplify their messaging and content creation to drive Georgia voters back to the polls. Since November 14th, we’ve published over 130 posts about the Georgia runoff, which earned 17.6 million impressions and over 800,000 engagements.
